Development Tools Used at Studio-Connect

USING TECHNOLOGY THAT IMPROVES THE FEATURES OF YOUR SITE

Studio-Connect works largely in Web Application Development along with standard site development, so finding the right development software is essential to creating applications that function without bugs or security issues. We use a combination of Integrated Development Environments and external libraries to accomplish most development tasks.

The following development tools are used by Studio-Connect in the development process:

NUSPHERE'S PHPED AND NU-CODER

NuSphere's PhpEd has become the primary tool used at Studio-Connect for developing web sites and web applications. It is tightly integrated with all the major PHP extensions, and includes code completion for all major PHP functions and SPL classes and methods. NuSphere includes an Ajax-enabled database manager and form if you want to use it (we haven't yet), and a tidy little client to their NuSoap Web Services Library. A debugger, CVS client, PhpDocumentor, and real-time error checking are just a few more features that come integrated into PhpEd. Features are able to be automated through custom shell scripts added into menus. This program can pretty much do whatever we want.

NuSphere's Nu-Coder is used for protecting proprietary applications when necessary, and integrates into PhpEd.

MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER MX 2004

Dreamweaver MX 2004 is now our backup editor for web pages. It integrates nicely with Macromedia Fireworks, so it is good for quickly working up site layouts.

LANGUAGES AND LIBRARIES

PHP is the primary language used in creating dynamic sites at Studio-Connect. PEAR libraries are used when needed, including HTML_AJAX, HTML_QuickForm, HTML_Table, and DB. HTML_AJAX has replaced Sajax as our go-to Ajax stub.

Current third-party software libraries in use include Joomla!, OSCommerce, and PHPMailer.
